Kinja'd!!!

So I decided to take good TrailBlazer photos.

Kinja'd!!!

Shoutout to my friend Marissa for letting me use her driveway for my unusual photos of random parts to my car.

Kinja'd!!!

TrailBlazer fact: the 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer accelerats from 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. That’s mildly surprising.

Kinja'd!!!

There’s dead bugs stuck in the headlights. I’m too scared to touch them.

Kinja'd!!!

Never seen before angle. The yellow sticker is for a exotics dealership in the area, which sells Ariel Atom’s. I also miss NC’s red letter plates.

I’m starting to hate the TrailBlazer a little less...

That black trim needs some trim restore something serious.

Well, that’s what happens when a vehicle is parked in the sun for nine years. I’ll do a restore eventually.

Oh no. Well it can blaze paved trails, I suppose. :)

My uncle had a 2008 TrailBlazer LT 4x4. He passed away in October 2013 and I went to Indianapolis and drove it 4 hours home to sell it. It only had 30,000 miles and drove excellently. I liked it. Plenty of power from that V6.

My uncle was an odd man with his vehicle choices. He had a ‘92 Blazer LT, a ‘96 Blazer LT, an ‘02 TrailBlazer LS, an ‘05 TrailBlazer LT, and then the ‘08 TrailBlazer LT. Not sure why he kept changing TrailBlazers when they were basically the same.

More or less for sale as a joke, but yes it was. This is the one that I went on the Untitled Car Show to talk about. Gore Orphanage Road?

There was a facelift in 2005, but I don’t understand his upgrade to the 2008. But the Vortec (*cough* Atlas *cough*) 4.2 I6 was the last American built, gas powered, inline-6 engine, so it does leave a special place in my heart.

But 275 HP, along with a curb weight of just over two tons, does make for it’s impressive 7.6 second 0-60 time. That 275 HP figure was very impressive in 2002, as it’s biggest competitor, the Jeep Grand Cherokee made a measly 190 HP from the otherwise fantastic 4.0 straight-6 (such a good engine), and even the 4.7 V8 made ten less horsepower than the TrailBlazer. Even though it is a body on frame, it does drive like a car. In all honestly, it drives like a not terrible car, as well. While the TrailBlazer isn’t really impressive today, it was a really solid choice back in the early 2000's.

Gore Orphanage for life. I’m going to be recording another one with Ike tomorrow night talking about the sale of my Merkur.

It will also do 127 mph, 3 less than the SS.

That’s faster than a base Mini. The fastest I’ve gotten it is about 85, but it starts to violently shake at that speed. The speedo also stops at 120, and it’s not that often that one hears about a vehicle whose speed exceeds it’s speedometer.

I pinned ours at 120 and it kept climbing. It was surprising stable for being once wrecked. Apparently the body shop did a better job than GM.

The front bumper flaps in the wind. It’s very elegant. My TrailBlazer is in need of rear struts, rear brakes, and could go for basically a whole new front suspension. Other than that, it’s solid. What year was yours?

2002. Bumper was completely stable... Because it was ziptied in place. Once again, better than factory.

For what it’s worth, I still see these things everywhere in my town.

My uncle just upgraded cars for the hell of it. Not really because it was necessary. At the time of his passing, he was considering a GMC Acadia Denali. A three-row SUV for a single man with no kids. Couldn't talk him out of it, either.

Our bumper was replaced after someone backed into us at a stoplight in 2009. While they did do a great job color matching, a less than satisfactory job was done on actually grafting the bumper to the vehicle itself. It’s been on the verge of falling off since it was applied.

Your uncle is my hero. But, and I don’t like saying this, GM actually built a vehicle that lasts. They rust much less than it’s competitors of the era (not as that affects me), they are now incredibly cheap to purchase and maintain, safe-ish, mostly reliable, quick, and relatively economical as they are supposed to get about 22 MPG. I get like 16, but that’s my fault.

Nice pictures. I like these kind of posts, and the TrailBlazer is a pretty good looking subject. I truly hate the TrailBlazer as a vehicle, though. Had one as a CarMax loaner for a week sometime around 2011, and by the end I was ready to set it on fire. To be fair, that Atlas motor was pretty smooth.
